Women Researchers from Veterinary University Honoured with Best Thesis Awards
Ten PhD scholars and two MVSc (Master of Veterinary Science) researchers from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, have been recognised with prestigious awards for their outstanding thesis work. The honours were presented during the Best MVSc and PhD Thesis Award Ceremony 2025, organised by the Indian Veterinary Association – Women’s Wing (IVA-WW) in collaboration with Bihar Animal Sciences University, at the Bihar Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute in Patna.
The event created a historic national platform celebrating excellence in research across all 18 disciplines of veterinary and animal sciences in India.
The award ceremony received an overwhelming response from institutions nationwide, with 347 theses submitted, including 224 MVSc and 123 PhD research works. A panel of 40 distinguished experts conducted a detailed and transparent evaluation process. As a result, 67 PhD and 78 MVSc theses, completed between 2019 and 2024, were selected for recognition.
The ceremony witnessed participation from women veterinary professionals representing different states, highlighting the unity and diversity of the veterinary community.
Among the GADVASU PhD awardees were Dr Gurjot Kaur Mavi, Dr Monika Thakur, Dr Rashmi Thakur, Dr Sreekala S Mohandas, Dr Nimbalkar Vidya Gajanan, Dr Samikshya Sarangi, Dr Sundus Gazal, Dr Akshita Chadda, Dr Shikha Chaudhary, and Dr Tulimoni Seal. The two MVSc award recipients from the university were Dr Habbu Aishwarya Sunder and Dr Emanika Rani.
